Flesh to Flesh

31.01.2024 — 03.02.2024

Location

Palazzo Hercolani Bonora Via Santo Stefano 30 Bologna, Italy

We are made of flesh in a world of flesh, bodies in a world of bodies, where the body itself becomes a spokesperson for both equality and uniqueness, while simultaneously embodying an irreducible ambiguity and vulnerability, an intrinsic dichotomy that renders it both actor and spectator. In a philosophy of identity that bridges distances, contiguities, and differences, conceiving a world made of flesh means understanding even the stone as such substance, for it is only in this way that the entirety of things appears to be multifaceted and complicit. Everything thus generates a tension not exclusively tied to the organic world; it invades every atom of the present in a dance that smells of blood. Moreover, the artist's practice inevitably gravitates towards such an all-encompassing vision: so, where does one’s body end, and where does the body of the other begin? From where does this dense form that dances and drips sweat originate?
